Key facts

The Sea Link is 5.6 km long with 8 lanes. It opened to traffic on 30 June 2009 and fully in 2010. It links Bandra, at the WEH and SV Road junction, to Worli in South Mumbai. It cuts the peak Bandra to Worli time from 20 to 30 minutes to about 10 minutes (Wikipedia, 2026).

Locality notes say the Sea Link starts at the WEH and SV Road intersection in Bandra.

The Sea Link also changes how Bandra relates to the rest of the city. Because it joins the Western Express Highway at its southern end, northbound and southbound traffic meet at the Bandra junction. That is a convenience for those who use it, but it also means the approach roads carry heavy traffic at peak hours, and our sources give no measurements of this.

Toll: why we say only that one applies

A toll applies. Sources conflict. A news report says cars pay Rs 100 one way from 1 April 2024, up from Rs 85 (revised 2021), while Wikipedia pages show Rs 85 or Rs 70. We cannot confirm which is right, so check with MSRDC before you travel.

The Coastal Road link

The Coastal Road phase 1 (Marine Lines to Worli, 10.58 km) was inaugurated on 11 March 2024. The connector bridge to the Sea Link opened to the public on 27 January 2025, with a projected Marine Drive to Bandra time of 10 to 15 minutes (Mumbai Live, 2025). Cars and state buses only. Phase 2 (19.22 km, Bandra to Kandivali) is listed as under construction, with no firm date.

The Versova-Bandra Sea Link is also under construction. It is 17.17 km including connectors, and the dates conflict: August 2027 on Wikipedia and December 2026 in a 2024 developer blog. It is not open.

MTHL and the planned link

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link is 18.2 km, opened on 12 January 2024 from Sewri to Chirle in Navi Mumbai, and cars pay Rs 200 single. A Sewri-Worli elevated link is planned to join the Coastal Road and the Sea Link. It was 50 per cent complete in January 2024, and the current status is unverified. If built, it would give a road path between Navi Mumbai and Bandra.

Checks before you decide

Use these checks alongside the table above.

  • Check the toll with MSRDC, since sources give Rs 70, Rs 85 and Rs 100 for cars.
  • Treat the Sewri-Worli link and the Versova-Bandra Sea Link as future items with uncertain dates.
  • Test the Sea Link approach at peak hours, as the 10 minute time is the headline figure.
  • Remember the Coastal Road is for cars and state buses only.
